What Are the Miracles We Make?: Rev. Mary Spradlin

Both the Old and New Testaments tell of God's glory revealed in miracles: the blind see, the lame walk, the dead come back to life, water is turned into wine, a sea is parted, manna falls from heaven, a virgin gives birth,  leper's skin is cleansed. Miracles occur whenever something extraordinary happens by divine agency that cannot be explained or predicted through natural or scientific laws. In some stories, these miracles come directly from God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. However, other stories show how God chooses mortals to activate miracles. Moses, Sarah, Elijah, Mary, and Paul are all agents of God's miracles on this earth.

We, too, can activate God's miracles. What a humbling thought - that God can use us to do God's extraordinary work in this world! It happens all the time.

This October, we will be emphasizing in worship the gifts that we give, to God and to one another. Prayer, Service, Presence and Gifts will be lifted up as some of the Miracles We Make as faithful Christians and members of AHUMC. I invite you to follow this blog daily, as we will post a number of testimonies from church members, who share the miracles they see in the various ministries of our congregation. If you have a story you would like to share, please click here to let us know. If you would like to receive blog updates you are welcome to enter your information in the sidebar above.

"Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever, Amen." - Ephesians 3:21
